The Resource
The Lodge at Chama 30,000 unrestricted acres on which to hunt the migratory elk that make there home here from late summer to early winter – and most importantly, during the autumn elk hunting season. With average scores of 280.Due to our ownership by the Jicarilla Apache Tribe, these hunts are one of the few hunts in North America where you can hunt bulls during the rut with your choice of weapon. Many hunters choose to hunt bugling bulls with a rifle, while others stick to archery equipment (subject to availability on archery).
The Hunt
All Bull Elk hunts include six nights of accommodations in our lodge, gourmet meals and complimentary bar plus five days hunting. Each hunter will have their own dedicated guide for these hunts. Not included in our hunts are meat processing, taxidermy or gratuities.
These hunts are conducted with a mix of spot-and-stalk and still hunting techniques utilized depending on hunter’s capabilities. Hunters joining us during the rut will experience calling setups and locating bulls with bugles and cow vocalizations.
Hunters looking for the opportunity at larger bulls may want to consider our Private Herd hunts.
